Shelby & Toby's Beagle Haiku

Breathing in my ear.
Toby snoozes while I read.
His paws twitch in dreams.

The "chase game" is on!
Toby skitters down the hall,
Shelby in pursuit.

* * *
IT'S A DOG DOWN THERE!!
Out dog flap, over railing,
Barking till it's gone.

* * *
Time to settle down.
TV drones, folks sitting still.
Curl up now. Happy.

* * *
"Beagle of the Hill",
Toby on the deck railing
Watching hours for dogs.

* * *
On the sunny deck
Shelby 's on her side, baking.
Then it's time for shade.
